One dead, one charged with murder after Saturday night altercation in Seventy Six Community

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department was first to arrive on scene Saturday night after a call of a shooting disturbance came into dispatch around 10:30 p.m. that resulted in the death of James Thomas Dyer, II, age 31, of Albany.

After the Kentucky State Police arrived on scene, investigation discovered that Dyer was shot with a 20 gauge single shot shotgun to the left side of his torso, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s Deputies Josh Asberry and Dustin Lowhorn, followed by Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Officer Wayne Glover, were the first to arrive on scene according to Asberry.

According to the KSP press release, the incident occured on Seventy Six Falls Road.

The press release also stated Dyer had been in an altercation with Anthony Troxel, age 35, of Albany and it was concluded during the investigation that Troxel allegidly shot Dyer during the altercation.

Dyer was transported to the Clinton County Hospital where he later succumbed to the injuries suffered from the gunshot wound.

As a result of the investigation, Troxel was charged with murder and lodged in the Clinton County Jail according to the Kentucky State Police.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective BJ Burton. Det. Burton was assisted at the scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton County Coroner, and Clinton County EMS.
