SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

VA Officer available

Gary Jones, Veterans Benefit Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 216 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Thursday and third Monday each month. SSA Office no longer

visiting Clinton County

The Social Security Administration will no longer be visiting the Clinton County Senior Citizens’s Building on the first and third Tuesday of each month. However, the local office will be able to better serve you. The office is located at 3975 S Highway 27, Somerset, Kentucky. We are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. LCADD Water Management Planning Council

The next LCADD Regional Water Management Planning Council Local Workshop meetings will be held Thursday, August 25. All groups will meet in the large conference room of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District office. Group 1 will meet at 8:30 a.m., Group 2 at 10:30 a.m. and Group 3 (includes Clinton County-Albany Municipal Water Works) at 1:30 p.m. It is very important that all water and sewer entities are present at this meeting as the start of the 2012 project priority rankings for the Water Management Planning Council will begin. There will be a Workforce Investment Board meeting Tuesday, August 16 at 10 a.m. in the large conference room at the Lake Cumberland Area Development District offices in Russell Springs.

to meet

Clinton County Board of Education will meet in regular session Monday, August 8 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office conference room. The meeting is open to the public.

IDA regular meeting

The Clinton County Industrial Development Authority will hold its regular meeting Thursday, August 11 at 11 a.m. at the Welcome Center. The meeting is open to the public. 42-2

Group Fitness classes

Group fitness classes are offered through the month of August at the Wellness Center. Cycling classes are Mondays and Thursdays, 5-6 p.m. Beginner Step classes are Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m. and Zumba classes are Mondays and Thursdays, 6:15-7:15 p.m. Cycling and Beginner Step Aerobics classes are free with membership and offered to Center members only. Zumba classes are $2.50 per class for members and $5 per class for non-members. 42-2

Relay for Life 5K Run

Relay for Life of Cumberland County is hosting a Midsummer’s Night 5K Run and Fastest Kid In Town 100-yard dash at Veterans Park in Burkesville on Saturday, August 13. Registration begins at 7 p.m.; Kid’s race at 7:30 p.m. and the 5K at 8 p.m. 5K participants can register online at relayforlife.org/cumberlandky or by calling Misty at 270-433-7700. Pre-registration is $10 and day-of is $15.00.

Living Well with Diabetes classes

Clinton County Health Department will be offering free Living Well with Diabetes classes during the month of September. Classes will be held Wednesdays, September 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. A night class will also be offered from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on October 3 and a graduate class (advanced class for individuals who have completed the four class series) entitled Advanced Carb Counting will be held on October 20 from 1-2 p.m. Pre-registration is required. AES Orientation

Albany Elementary School will be having orientation Thursday, August 4. The first and second grade will be from 6-7 p.m. and the third and fourth grade will be from 7-8 p.m. All students and parents are encouraged to attend.

Retired teachers to meet

Clinton County Retired Teachers will meet Monday, August 15 at Lee’s Famous Recipe. All Clinton County retired teachers are urged to attend. 42-2
