Dead period ends, things should ‘heat up’ from here out
The KHSAA mandated “dead period” has come and gone now, and although it’s a little hard to believe that within the next five weeks or so we’ll be seeing the school buses on the road again, I’m beginning to look forward to some developments from the fall lineup of sports.
Golf, volleyball, soccer, cross country and, of course, football should be in full practice mode soon and before we know it, we’ll be covering those sports for the 2017 seasons.
In the meantime, as far as local sporting events go, things are in the normal slow-down mode.
Not to worry, there will be plenty to talk about before we know it.
Robbie Davis Memorial Golf Scramble II organizing
One event that has strong local ties is beginning to gear up at an organizational level for 2017.
The Robbie Davis Memorial Foundation Golf Scramble is set to be played on Thursday, August 10 at Griffin Gate Golf Course in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Foundation is designed to help youngsters realize their potential by offering assistance in a host of various opportunities that would advance their athletics, education and personal development skills.
The tournament, which is the second annual event, is a bring your own team scramble format and additional details can be learned by contacting Mike Davis at Davis Insurance.
Meanwhile – the sun shines sometimes between rain storms, so while we still can …
Let’s take it outside!
