County Clerk’s Office

to be closed

The Clinton County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, July 31 for state computer training. The office will reopen on Tuesday, August 1.

Type II Diabetes Prevention class

Ginger Conn, RN and DNP candidate at Western Kentucky University, will offer a free class as part of a research study about ways to reduce your risk for Type II Diabetes. The class will be held at the Clinton County Extension Office on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, July 29, 2017 at noon. Please make time to attend one of these classes for some useful information and a chance to win one of two $24 VISA gift cards or free membership to the Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center.

Got Diabetes: Classes offered

Got diabetes? We are here to help with interactive lessons, to help prevent/delay complications, improve A1c and help you feel better. A Diabetes 101 class will be offered on Tuesday, August 15 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Clinton County Senior Citizens (Community) Center. Also, there will be a Living Well with Diabetes four-session class beginning Tuesday, October 3 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. Soil Conservation meeting

The Clinton County Soil Conservation District will hold its monthly meeting Friday, July 28 at 8:30 a.m. in the conference room of the FSA/NRCS office. The meeting is open to the public.

Albany City Council to meet

Albany City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, August 1 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.

Industrial Authority meeting

The Clinton County Industrial Development Authority will hold its regular meeting Thursday, August 10 at 11 a.m. at the IDA-Welcome Center. The meeting is open to the general public.

Park board regular meeting

The Recreation Park Board will hold its regular meeting Thursday, June 27 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public.

Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee to meet

The Lake Cumberland Regional Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee will meet on July 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. central time to discuss revisions recommended by KY Emergency Management and to adopt the Lake Cumberland Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The meeting will be held at the Lake Cumberland Area Development District, located at 2384 Lakeway Drive in Russell Springs.

The geographic scope of the Lake Cumberland Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan includes 14 incorporated cities and all unincorporated land within Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Pulaski, McCreary, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne counties.

The Plan, which is updated every five years, forms the foundation for long-term strategies to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction and repeated damage. The public is encouraged to attend.

Lake Cumberland Head Start now accepting applications

Head Start is now accepting applications for three and four year old children in the Clinton County area to participate in the Head Start program during the 2017-2018 school year.

Head Start is an early childhood education program that provides comprehensive services to income eligible parents and their families with special needs.

Qualified staff operates a center based facility that is developmentally appropriate for three to five years old. The center provides an environment with numerous learning opportunities and experiences that meet the needs of young children.

AA meetings twice weekly

Alcohol Anonymous (AA) meetings are held each Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at Albany Christian Church.
