A new school year just ahead,

golf season underway

It still seems like summer outside – mainly because it still is, but next week students will be heading back to class for the start of the 2011-12 school year.

With that will come new 2011-12 athletic seasons that will get underway almost immediately, especially for our golf teams.

Our Golf Dawgs and Lady Golf Dawgs will be utilizing the Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park for most of their home games this season. With the boys’ regional slated for play at DHLSRP this post-season, and the girls’ scheduled there for the 2012 season, the thinking is that the extra exposure to the nearby course will pay off for the local players when those tournament times roll around.

With golf season already underway, we’ll also see soccer, football, volleyball and then cross country getting underway as we begin reaching the cooler weeks of September and October.

We’re currently working on our C.C.H.S. Fall Big Blue Preview, and unlike the winter basketball preview and the spring sports preview, this fall issue presents us with a different set of production challenges in that the sports involved kick off in such a staggered manner, that part of the seasons are well underway before the final season, Cross Country, has even begun its first practice.

Still, look for the Fall Preview coming within the next few weeks.

In the meantime, just remember that the highways will once again be busy with school traffic – give yourself a little extra time, a little extra space use a little extra caution and make it a safe start to the 2011-12 year.
