Mike Anders tourney is this weekend

Always brings me a little pause when the annual Mike Anders Annual Memorial Golf Tournament rolls around and it’s even harder to believe that this will be the fifth annual event.

The tournament is a benefit for our local golf teams and funds raised from the outing helps to purchase necessary golf related items for the Golf Dawgs and Lady Golf Dawgs.

In addition, the event is also a way to pay respect to the CCHS Boys’ Golf Coach who was liked by everyone who came his way, and loved by those students who played the game for him.

Anders perished on his 58th birthday when the small airplane he was piloting crashed in Florida in January, 2013.

Saturday’s tournament at 76 Falls Country Club will be a blind draw, four-person scramble with a $50 entry fee per person.

Several prizes and side events will be held, including a $2,000 payout for the first place team (based on a full 72 player field).

Additional details about this weekend’s Mike Anders Fore The Kids event, or to pre-register for the tournament, may be learned by calling Barry Melton (606-375-0101) or Fredrick Honeycutt (606-688-1965).
