Dawgs get off to good start for gridiron season
Although I didn’t personally get to attend Friday night’s start to the 2017 C.C.H.S. Football season, it was reportedly a great night of football – especially for Coach Jamie Miller and his crew.
The Bulldogs jumped out early and rolled out to a 40-18 win to go 1-0 in this 2017 gridiron campaign.
A separate account of Friday’s win over Fort Knox can be found elsewhere in this week’s Sports.
This week, the Dawgs will take their game on the road as they head to the absolute western-most portion of Kentucky to take on the Fulton County High School Pilots.
I’ve been to Fulton County many, many years ago, and my advise to those making the trip is to be sure and pack some snacks – you are in for a long trip.
Both teams will be taking 1-0 records into Friday night’s game in Hickman, Kentucky.
The Pilots – think riverboat pilot, Fulton County is actually split in two by the Ohio River and is named after Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat – are playing host to our Bulldogs after picking up a 46-26 win in its season opener over Gleason County, Tennessee.
Friday night’s win was the Pilot’s first victory since early in the 2014 season.
Fans should expect clear skies at game time, with temperatures in the mid to low 60s. Be warned, however, you are playing next to the Ohio River and the air will feel much cooler than it does here – dress accordingly.
