Dawgs go 2-0 after big win on the Ohio River

Off to a fast start in this 2017 gridiron campaign, our Bulldogs will again be on the road this Friday night, taking their 2-0 record on a second consecutive away game.

After picking up a nice 38-8 win over the Pilots of Fulton County last Friday night, the Dawgs will be headed in the opposite direction this Friday for its next outing, taking on the Raiders of McCreary Central.

The Raiders, a 3-A squad, are coming off of a 42-6 loss last Friday night at the hands of South Laurel and the Dawgs will be faced with going after its third straight win while trying to keep the Raiders from earning its first win of the season.

Last season’s outing between the two teams was an offensive display on Bulldog Field, with the teams putting up over 100 points in the 68-40 McCreary win.

Local fans planning on making the trip should be aware that game time this Friday night is set for 7:00 p.m. central (local) time .

There is a strong chance that the Dawgs will be playing in the mud and possibly with delays as rain and even thunderstorms are forecast for Friday and throughout the upcoming holiday weekend. Be prepared for heavy rains and temperatures in the low to mid 60s.

Congrats to Volley Dawgs on a championship title

Our Lady Volley Dawgs added some nice hardware to the CCHS trophy case this weekend when they captured the 4th Region All “A” Classic championship at Metcalfe County.

Coach Kayla Kriek’s squad earned the trip to the All “A” State Tournament by picking up wins over Monroe County (25-19, 25-19), Cumberland County (25-15, 26-24) and host Metcalfe County in the championship round (25-15, 25-7).

The Volley Dawgs will head to the All “A” State Tournament in Florence, Kentucky in a couple of weeks. The tournament is slated for September 15-16 at the St. Henry Athletic Complex, in the Covington, Kentucky area.

Again, congrats Lady Volley Dawgs on a fantastic, first – ever, achievement.

Last of the “Big Three” is here

Just a final reminder that the last of the “Big Three” tourism weekends is here with the arrival of Labor Day.

As always, despite a somewhat dismal weather forecast for most of the weekend with the remnants of Hurricane Harvey moving into the area, we should still expect crowded roads and waterways.

Give yourself a little more room and a little more time, and if at all possible – be nice to our visitors. We need their money and we need them to come back.

Have a safe weekend and be patient – after this, we’ve got the best outdoor weather to enjoy for at least a couple of months.
