Dawgs are still 2-0 after Mother Nature intervention
A trip east to McCreary Central High School was not to be last week with Mother Nature throwing a little Harvey in the way.
Shifting began fairly early in the week with school officials talking about the possibility of weather problems during the slated Friday night kickoff slot at McCreary Central.
There was talk of an early start, then talk of moving the game to Saturday with a 12:00 noon kick, then as game time approached and torrential rains continuing to fall, the talk turned to calling off the game altogether – which is where the talks ended.
So, our Dawgs will keep its perfect 2-0 record intact as they take the field this Friday night for one of our biggest rivalry games, playing host to the neighboring Bobcats of Pickett County, Tennessee.
Clinton County won last year’s contest against the Bobcats 57-26 and Coach Jamie Miller and Company will be looking for a repeat come Friday night.
Pickett County was also idle this past week, with an open week already planned in its schedule. The Bobcats’ most recent outing was an 18-15 win over Zion Christian School.
Fans getting ready for some gridiron action this Friday night should be in for a nice evening at Bulldog Field.
Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and weather conditions look great for some Friday Night Lights action. Expect clear skies with only a minimal chance for any rain. Temperatures at kickoff should be in the low 60s and could be expected to drop to the mid to low 50s by the end of the contest. Sweatshirts and boggins would be in order.
Congrats to the Soccer Dawgs
The Bulldog Soccer Dawgs are to be congratulated for picking up a 10-0 Mercy Rule win over Russellville last weekend in the opening round of the 4th Region All “A” Classic.
The Dawgs will be hosting the championship game of this 4th Region All “A” Classic, taking the field against an opponent that has yet to be determined – either Todd County or Monroe County.
The championship game will get underway at 2:00 p.m. and again, congrats on advancing, and good luck in picking up an All “A” Championship this weekend.
