Dawgs go to 3-0 after Bobcat smack-down

Our Bulldogs were on the favorable end of an old-fashioned smack-down Friday night when they handed cross-state rival Pickett County a 68-0 thumping.

Coach Jamie Miller and Dawg Company started out fast and hard and never let up as they thrilled a nearly packed house on Bulldog Field to go 3-0.

Congrats are certainly in order to the Dawgs and staff on not only a great performance Friday night, but to a great start overall on this 2017 season.

Friday’s route of the Bobcats, who were coming off a victory the week before over Zion Christian, runs Clinton County’s season scoring total to 146 points while having allowed only 26 points from opponents in the three games played in this still young campaign.

A separate account of the win over PCHS can be found elsewhere in Sports.

Next, our Dawgs head west, but not very far. A quick trip over to Hart County this Friday night will have Clinton County going up against the Colonels of Caverna.

The Colonels have gotten off to a slow start this season with a 0-3 mark so far, losing most recently this past Friday night to its cross-county rival Hart County, 63-13.

There is at least one local connection to the Colonels that I’m aware of. Kentucky State Police Trooper Jonathan Biven, who is the current Director of Trooper Island Camp and is a part-time resident of Clinton County, played for the Colonels in the mid 1990s.

Biven, who tells me the Colonel program was a stronger program then than now, was a five-year starter and held down several positions during his tenure, including quarterback as well as the team punter and kicker.

Fans traveling to Caverna for Friday night’s contest can look forward to another fantastic night of football weather. Kickoff temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 60s and with the remnants of Irma expected to be completely out of the region for a day or so, expect partly cloudy skies with little chance or rain.

Congrats to the Soccer Dawgs – II

Clinton County’s Soccer Dawgs are to be congratulated again this week, having picked up the All “A” Classic 4th Region Championship title this past weekend., and adding even more hardware to the CCHS trophy case – a championship title and trophy for the school

The Dawgs earned Clinton County it’s second consecutive trip to the All “A” State with a 7-0 win over Monroe County this past Saturday to capture the 4th Region All “A” Classic championship.

Clinton County will host the first round (subsection) of the All “A” Classic this Saturday, taking on the Region 3 Champion, Owensboro Catholic. The match gets underway at 11:00 a.m.

Once again, congrats to Coach Assane Ndiaye and Company, and good luck in Saturday’s matchup against the Aces.
