Highway Nazarene Church hosted the first Kentucky District Teen Bible Quiz of the 2017-2018 season on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Two teams from Highway Nazarene Church competed in the novice division tournament with six other teams. The Highway Hope team was undefeated and earned first place overall in the tournament. Highway Hope is comprised of Eli Rains, Ethan Rains, and Blake Melton. The Highway Faith team only had two losses on the day and earned third place overall in the tournament. Highway Faith is comprised of Mattie Honeycutt, Sidney Alexander, and Lex Marcum. Four Highway quizzers also placed in the Top Ten. Individually, Ethan Rains was first, Eli Rains was second, Mattie Honeycutt was fourth, and Blake Melton was tenth. The teams are coached by Ammie Marcum, Teresa Scott, and Sid Scott.

Thank you to all those who helped with the lunch fundraiser at the quiz! Over $400.00 was raised to help send our quizzers to Q 2018 – the national quiz finals in Olathe, Kansas next June. Highway would like to extend a big “THANK YOU” to the following for their contributions toward the fundraiser: McWhorter’s Variety Store (Hall McWhorter), City Mart (Larry Ferguson), Save-a-Lot, Pizza Hut, Majors Pizza, Jones Restaurant, Pepsi (Steve Beaty), The Garden Spot, Connie Phillips, and Wal-Mart.
