Dawgs run out to 4-0 after second straight thumping

Clinton County’s football boys are the talk of the town after getting off to a 4-0 start on this 2017 season.

The Dawgs returned home from Hart County Friday night with yet another beatdown under their belts, having handed the Colonels of Caverna a 70-25 thumping.

With the win, Clinton County has piled up some pretty impressive team stats, including having put up some 198 points thus far while allowing only 45 points to be scored combined by our four opponents. In addition, the Dawgs have moved the ball with1,193 rushing yards and 465 passing yards.

Clinton County will be on the road again this Friday night before returning home the following week for a two-week home stand.

The Bulldogs will travel to nearby Edmonton Friday to take on a more familiar opponent in the Hornets of Metcalfe County, a team that has also put up some impressive numbers in this 2017 season as well.

Metcalfe will be hosting the Dawgs coming off of an overtime 14-13 win over Edmonson County this past Friday night. The Hornets will be taking a 4-1 record into Friday’s contest with Clinton County and, like the Dawgs, are on a four-game winning streak, having lost their only game in the season opener against Taylor County back on August 18.

Friday’s kickoff is set for 7:00 and the night should be a perfect night for high school football – after all, the fall season will have arrived just four hours prior to the start of the contest (3:02 p.m.)

Expect a crisp, cool evening with temperatures to be in low 70s at kickoff, dropping to the low 60s as the night continues. There is little or no chance of rain so sweatshirts and toboggans are suggested.

Good luck to Coach Jamie Miller and company as they head to Hornet territory in hopes of returning home with a 5-0 mark.

Congrats to our Lady Golf Dawgs on a district championship

Our Lady Golf Dawgs earned the 16th District Championship crown Monday at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park course.

The new hardware for the CCHS trophy case came after a nine-hole tournament that had the Lady Dawgs facing Metcalfe for the title in the two-team event.

Clinton County was led by London Honeycutt who fired a round of 45, followed by Victoria Honeycutt and Tagan Garner, both with scores of 56, and Kaylee Latham with a 62.

Congrats girls and to coach Nick Irwin.

Nice run by the soccer Dawgs, but Saturday wasn’t the day

Clinton County’s soccer Dawgs played host to Owensboro Catholic Saturday for the first round of the All “A” Classic State Tournament.

Taking our 4th Region championship up against 3rd Region champs Owensboro Catholic, Clinton County fell narrowly in the contest, losing 1-3, ending Clinton County’s All “A” Classic run for 2017.

Getting back to the regular season, the Bulldogs bounced back nicely on Monday of this week, picking up a nice 7-0 win over Monroe County.

Congrats are certainly in order for the Dawgs and Coach Assane Ndiaye on a nice All “A” Classic run this year. The regional championship for Clinton County was a back to back feat for the Dawgs who also earned the title in the 2016 season.
