As the 137 participants left the starting line Saturday for the Foothills 5K, it was a wire to wire win for Aaron Osborne, wearing bib number 210. Osborne jumped off of the finish line and led all runners for the entire course to finish with a time of 16:47. Albany Police Chief Ernest Guffey, who drove the escort cruiser in front of the runners, told the Clinton County News that he never slowed down below 15 m.p.h. while driving in front of Osborne.

Foothills action gets off to an early start for those who both run in, and come out to cheer on the runners in the 5K race on Saturday morning. This view shows the crowd gathered at the finish line near Dyer Drug as the runners head up the incline for the final stretch before crossing the finish line.

A nice crowd gathered in front of Albany First Baptist Church to enjoy the Friday performance by the Clinton County High School Alumni Band. Under the direction of Lamon Hubbs, the Alumni Band has earned a loyal following whenever they perform.

Foothills fans who stuck around after the Friday evening parade were treated to the Bluegrass sounds of C.F. Bailey and Shadow Ridge. The band, a Tennessee based group, was sponsored by the Clinton County Community Foundation.

There is talent to the fine art of eating the sweet goodies available every year at the Foothills Food Court, and this year’s winner of enjoying the treats was Bozie York, who was spotted Saturday forking down these sugar covered donut snacks.
