The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is partnering with the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife to hold a youth deer archery hunt for both buck and doe here at the Kendall Annex area below Wolf Creek Dam Oct. 29, 2011.
A drawing is planned Oct. 3 at the Natural Resource Manager’s Office in Somerset, Ky. to select participants for the hunt. To be eligible for the drawing, participants must be between the ages of 12-17. The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Sept. 30.
Applicants must send a letter with their name, age, and phone number along with a stamped self-addressed envelope to this address:

All selected applicants will be notified by mail with further instructions. Those selected must be able to present a valid hunter education card the day of the hunt. Doe tags will be provided to drawn hunters; however, bucks will count towards the state-wide bag limit.
The number of youth to be selected in the drawing is going to be based upon the approximate size of the observed deer population in the area as determined at the time of the drawing. For more information, please contact Park Ranger Tyler Matthews at 606-875-5321.
