Dale Hollow
Diamonds
by Beth Tanner
You’ve seen them, haven’t you? The diamonds of Dale Hollow Lake that shimmer and sparkle as the sun gleams off the water.
The twinkle of the lake gems that return year after year to dance on the water during the hot days of summer. You can’t hold their beauty in your hand, but you certainly can cherish the beauty they provide in your heart.
These diamonds remain brilliantly the same no matter how much has changed. They are the only diamonds in the world that don’t cost a thing but are so very precious and priceless. The value they hold is not in dollars but in memories.
They bring to my mind the wonderful days spent as a child swimming in the cool lake, catching fireflies at dusk, chasing one another in the dark, and enjoying the smell of wood burning in the campfire.
They remind me of summer friendships made, time spent with precious family members that are no longer here, and the sweet feeling of first love.
The diamonds bring back the memories of being young and growing up while spending my summers at Dale Hollow Lake.
Now I wish to give the gift of these precious diamonds to my children and hope they will create the same types of wonderful memories as they spend their summers growing up at the lake.
Before this summer slips away, be sure to take the time to visit the lake on a glorious sunny day to catch a glimpse of the diamonds.
Let them dance in your mind’s eye and remind you of the wonderful memories that you hold within your heart.
