Although the summer may seem to be coming to an end with the start of school, there is still plenty of time, and several great events, taking place at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery! So check out the following and make plans to be a part of our hatchery happenings.
Make plans to mark off August 22 and 29, 2011 as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery, in partnership with the Russell County Public Library, offers an engaging parent session offered through the We Can! Program.
We Can!, which stands for Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition, offers this training, aimed specifically at parents of children ages seven through 13, free of charge.
Meetings will be held at the Jamestown Public Library each Monday listed above, from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. CST, and all participants will enjoy a bevy of fun activities, including cooking demos for quick snacks and meals that kids will eat; a chance to talk to other parents; a copy of the We Can! Parents Handbook; along with creative ideas for getting your family active and loving it!

Are you a teacher, nonformal educator, 4-H leader, Girl Scout/Boy Scout volunteer, parent, etc looking to learn new engaging, fun activities that incorporate both the environment and education? If so, here is a workshop for you! Make plans to attend the Project WILD Facilitator Workshop, set for Friday and Saturday, August 27th and 28, 2011. This workshop is designed to train teachers and other interested persons to lead Project WILD workshops.
The goal of Project WILD is for children and adults to develop problem solving and decision-making skills about sharing the environment with wildlife. The workshop will be from 5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. CST at the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery Visitor/Environmental Education Center on Friday, August 26th, 2011 and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST on Saturday, August 27th, 2011. Both days are required.
