KSP busts chicken fighting

On Saturday, May 12, 2018, Kentucky State Police Trooper Jason Warinner received a complaint in regards to a chicken fighting operation located in Albany, Kentucky.

The complaint gave details saying more than 50-60 people were at a location on Cat and Mouse Road. Upon arriving at the location, Warinner observed numerous vehicles parked near a building.

“I notified Post 15 on the situation and two additional units were dispatched to my location to assist,” Warinner said.

Warinner said he located an individual walking near his location and was identified as the landowner’s son, Shawn Conaster. Warinner said in a brief statement written to the Clinton County News, after speaking with Conaster, he advised there was a “cock” fight taking place.

As KSP officers, along with an Albany Police Officer, walked towards the building, several individuals were able to flee the area. According to Warinner, after further investigation, 80 citations were completed for cruelty to animals in the second degree.

A warrant has been issued for one subject that was identified before fleeing the scene.

Citations were written to numerous people from numerous counties throughout South Central Kentucky and Tennessee. The investigation is still ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
