The Nazarene Teen Bible Quizzing season began with the first quiz of the year at Science Hill Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, September 3, 2011. Fourteen teams competed at the first district quiz, including four experienced teams and ten novice teams.

There were twenty-four first year quizzers at the event. Novice teams competed in a round robin tournament, while experienced teams competed in a triple round robin.

The experienced combo team of Highway Nazarene Church and Science Hill Nazarene Church (High-Hill) was comprised of Jordan Grant, William Cox, Corey Boils, and Vincent Boils. High-Hill was undefeated on the day, with a record of 9 – 0, and was the first place experienced team.

Individually, William Cox was the top experienced quizzer. Vincent Boils was second and Corey Boils was eighth.

The High-Hill team was coached by Margaret Boils. Highway’s novice team was comprised of Hannah Avery, Savannah Stockton, Hayli Pillar, and Gunar Honeycutt. The Highway team finished in sixth place, after a tough day of competition with some very excited new quizzers. Individually, Savannah Stockton was the top novice quizzer.

Highway was coached by Teresa Scott. The Albany United Church of the Nazarene novice team was comprised of Silas Melton, Amber Cross, and Angela Thurman.

The Albany United team finished in 3rd place, with a record of 6 – 3. Individually, Silas Melton was the fourth quizzer and Amber Cross was eighth in the novice division.

The Albany United team was coached by Angela Melton and Katie Boils Poore. William Cox, Silas Melton, and Vincent Boils were selected as three of the top five boy quizzers and Savannah Stockton and Amber Cross were selected as two of the top five girl quizzers to participate in the Boys vs. Girls Quiz-Off at the end of the day.

William, Silas, and Vincent lead the boys team in the win over the girls team. Highway Coach Sid Scott and former Highway quizzer Stacia York served as two of the six QuizMasters for the day. Thanks to Albany United and Highway Nazarene Churches for supporting this incredible ministry and encouraging our teens to dig deeper into God’s Word!
