Turnovers … by Alan B. Gibson

It’s August, and gridiron action is just two weeks away

The arrival of a little cold front this week brought to mind the somewhat sad thoughts of the arrival of the fall season, although we still will certainly have plenty dog days of summer ahead as we go through August and most of September.

Another thought that also comes to mind at this time of year isn’t sad at all, but at least gives us something to look forward too.

The 2018 Clinton County Bulldog football season will get underway in just over a couple of weeks and this should be a great season for a seasoned bunch of guys who are headed into the campaign with some great potential.

Coming off of a 6-3 season in 2017, Coach Jamie Miller and company will be getting the new season underway on the road when we head up to Fort Knox High School to take on the Eagles.

Clinton County came away from the matchup last year with a 40-18 win over Fort Knox and while I’m sure the Eagles will be hoping to avenge that season starting loss in 2017, it’s a sure bet that our own Bulldogs will go into the game determined to get our own season off on the same positive note as they did last year.

More about the season as the first game approaches, but consider this just an early heads up to get the football game gear out of storage, dust off the sweatshirts, toboggans and blankets and be ready to get behind the gridiron boys.

We’re working on our fall sports special Big Blue Preview already, and with the deepened season starting points with all of the fall sports that are involved, we can’t promise to have the Preview ready before the August 17 gridiron season opener, but we’re doing our best to have it ready for the first home game on August 31.

In the meantime – let’s take it outside for a few months!
