In what is a rough start on a Clinton County Lady Bulldog season, the team has compiled an 1-3 overall record, after coming off of an 1-2 run last week in two road games and one home stand.

Last week’s games included seeing the Lady Dawgs pick up it’s first victory of the year in a vwery nice 48-42 win against the Monroe County Lady Falcons, on the Monroe County hardwood, a venue that is always a nearly impossible one to collect a win on.

In it’s other two outings last week, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind early and were never able to catch up in either instance, losing to Metcalfe County in the Castle on Friday night, 78-41, and giving up another loss on Saturday afternoon against Greenwood on the Gators’ home floor, 58-44.

Clinton County’s offense took an unexplained turn south during the early minutes of the second quarter last Friday night when the Lady Buldogs were playing host to 16th District opponent Metcalfe County.

Never able to recover, the result was a contest that was all Lady Hornets during the final three quarters of action, with the Lady Dawgs losing the important district contest by 37 points, 78-41.

The Lady Bulldogs seemed to be in good shape as the game got underway, battling toe to toe with the Lady Hornets during the opening eight minutes of action, and controlling a narrow one point lead at the close of the first quarter, 14-13.

Metcalfe County’s press defense suddenly put a complete end to the Lady Bulldog’s abililty to get the ball safely across the half court line, and time after time, Clinton County gave up possession of the basketball resulting in the Lady Hornets overtaking the lead and control of the contest on both ends.

By the end of that ill-fated second quarter of action, the game was all but in the possession of the Lady Hornets as the teams went to the halftime break with Metcalfe holding a 46-24 lead.

The second half was little more than a run to the final horn for Metcalfe County, with a fast paced third quarter that saw the Lady Dawgs fall behind even further.

After trailing by 32 at the close of the third quarter, 67-35, the game went into running clock mode inthe final minutes of the fourth quarter with Clinton County eventually falling to Metcalfe County, 78-41.
