The Pickett County Sheriff’s Department conducted saturation patrol on Friday, August 26. At approximately 1 a.m., Deputy Malcolm Johnson was patrolling Hwy. 111 when he got behind a Jeep Cherokee driving at various speeds. After stopping the vehicle, Deputy Johnson noticed the passengers’ nervous behavior and observed them trying to hide something.

Chief Deputy Steve Wilbur and Deputy Yuri were called to search the vehicle. Three small plastic bags and one small plastic tube which contained several grams of methamphetamine in powder form were found.

Patricia Harris, 53, 176 Clara Williams Lane, Cookeville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to resale in a Drug Free School Zone. Kimberly Webb, 38, 943 Allens Chapel Rd., Hilham, was charged with possession of methamphetamine while driving, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to resale in a Drug Free School Zone. Kevin Pritchard, 39, 943 Allens Chapel Rd., Hilham, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to resale in a Drug Free School Zone, and Introduction of Contraband into a penal institution.

On Friday, August 19, at approximately 8 a.m., the Pickett County Sheriff’s Office received a call on a suspicious vehicle on Mullins Road. The caller advised that two men in a green GMC pick-up had been driving around Mullins Road and stopping at people’s homes. Upon arriving in the area, Deputy James Hammock was notified that a residence had been broken into and the vehicle was headed on North Lick Creek Road towards Hwy. 127.

Deputy Hammock called and requested assistance of Fentress County Sheriff’s Department to help locate the vehicle. After hours of searching and more tips of the vehicle whereabouts, the suspects were apprehended at Regions Bank.

Joshua Carroll, 32, of 215 Gail Lane, Pall Mall, is charged with theft over $1,000, aggravated burglary and possession of stolen property. Korey Hayes, 19, 848 Old Highway 127 South, Jamestown, was charged with DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft over $1,000, possession of stolen property, possession of heroin and aggravated burglary.

This case is still being investigated and it is possible that the suspects are linked with multiple thefts and burglaries in Pickett and Fentress County.

A Pickett County man died in a tractor accident on August 30.

According to reports, Jonathan David Cook, 31, Cordell Hull Memorial Drive, was bush hogging and when he didn’t return home, family members attempted to locate him.

Cook was found dead underneath the tractor which had been overturned.
