The Cumberland County High School Livestock Judging Team placed first out of 48 teams at the Kentucky State Fair recently.
The Livestock Judging Contest consisted of two classes of beef cattle, two classes of sheep, two classes of swine, one class of market goats, one class of feeder cattle grading, one class of slaughter cattle yield grading, 50 question livestock test, and one set of oral reasons.
Cumberland County had three students in the top 10 in overall individual scoring, and as a team really scored well in feeder cattle grading. The Livestock Judging Team will represent the Kentucky FFA at the National FFA Convention in October.
The Livestock Judging Team from Cumberland County is comprised of Kristen Dyer, Laura Hopper, Adam Huber and Matt Leveridge.
“These students have worked hard in preparation for this and did an excellent job. Their dedication really shows that to be successful in life, hard work is a must,” Advisor Lannie Willen said.
