A pedestrian was fatally injured Friday night, September 9, attempting to walk across a portion of Highway 70 in DeKalb County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Around 8:15 p.m. Sept. 9, the victim, Christina Adams, 33, of Smithville, was walking along a portion of the highway and decided to cross the westbound lane.
A driver in a 2005 Ford Mustang that was traveling westbound on Highway 70 was unable to stop in time to avoid striking Adams. Investigators said the driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The driver submitted to a sobriety test and no alcohol or drugs were thought to be involved.
