Overton County Schools and Overton County 911 staff have developed an app for the school district that will allow anyone to anonymously report incidences of bullying, fights, crime, illegal use of alcohol or drugs, etc.

This app is to help empower the community increase communication, and keep school officials informed about suspicious or criminal behavior related to school activities while remaining anonymous.

Patty Dale, Overton County Schools Family Engagement Liaison stated, “We have published the link to See Something/Say Something app on the Overton County Schools website, and on each individual schools’ web page.

“This app also has the capability to have a link on smart phones for community members to use. Parents, students, and community members can click on the link and give information about any incidences that need to be brought to administrations’ attention.

“Information collected on the app includes what school you are reporting on, location or type of event, name, race, gender, age, and hair color of those involved, type and description of vehicle, and any other descriptions of critical information that will contribute to being able to intervene and solve problems in our school system.

“There is also an option to upload any pictures, images, or videos that are pertinent, along with an option to publish a link to a URL of images or a video.”

Depending on the school chosen, the principal of that school, the SRO officers, and central office staff will receive the form submission immediately.

“By being alert and reporting suspicious activities, Overton County Schools will be better equipped to protect our students and faculty,” Dale said. “The app is ready for use today.”

The app cost $85,000, with Overton/Pickett 911 providing it free of charge to Overton County Schools.
