Dawgs headed for the Hornets nest

Clinton County fell to the 0-5 mark on the gridiron, after losing to Casey County Friday night 22-0.

The Bulldogs will likely have their best hopes at a victory thus far this season on the road this Friday night when they travel across Cumberland County and into Metcalfe County to take on the Hornets.

Also a 2-A school, Metcalfe County is looking for their first victory of the season as well. Both teams are sporting a 0-5 mark on the year.

The Hornets come into Friday night’s contest after a 48-8 loss at the hands of Warren East this past Friday night.

Kickoff in Edmonton is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Thoughts turning to roundball

Fall officially arrives this Friday – or a more depressing way of putting it would be to note that Summer 2011 officially comes to an end this Friday, at 4:05 a.m. – and even though we’re still in the middle of football season and barely into Cross County, we’re in Kentucky, which translates into thoughts already turning toward basketball season.

While we’re about 10 weeks away right now from the start of the 2011-12 campaign, things are already happening on the roundball front.

I spent about an hour this Tuesday with the other members of the Wall of Fame Committee, and among those are former Bulldog head coach Lindle Castle, and long-time Clinton County radio announcer Sid Scott.

I can report that both are appearing healthy, and about as ornery as usual, and as always, it was fun just being back around these two. At some point, C.C.H.S. Principal Sheldon Harlan suggested someone should write down some of the stories from years ago, and after hearing Sid and Coach recall just a couple of the funnier ones – I’m not sure that would be such a good idea after all.

In any event, inductees have been selected, and a tentative date for the induction ceremony has been set, and as soon as the inductees have been contacted and the date firmed up, the official announcement will come.
