Lady Dawgs drop close one to Garrard County

The Clinton County Lady Dawgs took the floor Saturday against Garrard County.

The Lady Dawgs opened up on a good note and stayed with Garrard County during the first period, 13-13.

Alexis Roberts hit one free throw and a three pointer, followed by one free throw from Rylee Stockton and two three pointers and a field goal by Abbi Young.

During the second quarter, Clinton County fell behind by only posting six points for the entire quarter, compared to Garrard County’s 16.

Young hit two more three pointers during the period to give Clinton County its six points, 29-19.

Clinton County came out after halftime and changed the flow of the game.

The Lady Dawgs posted 18 total points for the quarter on two three pointers by Roberts, a three pointer, two field goals and two free throws by Stockton, and a free throw and field goal by McKenzie Cope.

Garrard County only posted nine points for the quarter, allowing Clinton County to get to within one point at the end of the third, 38-37.

During the final quarter, Garrard posted a total of 21 points compared to Clinton County’s 14.

Roberts added a field goal, along with a three pointer by Young, four points from Stockton, two from Ashton Daniels and three points from Landree Moons.

As the final buzzer sounded, Clinton County fell by a final score of, 59-51.

Clinton County’s next game will be on Saturday, January 26 at Lynn Camp, both on the road, and Wayne County at home on Monday, January 28.
