McCreary Central 48

The Dawgs opened up with a quick 4-0 start against McCreary Central Monday night, and what should have been a victory in blowout fashion, turned into a pretty competitive game on both ends of the floor.

Both teams went back and forth during the first quarter and Clinton County couldn’t find that explosive turn on offense the team is accustom to having.

At the 3:30 mark, Jackson Harlan hit a field goal to tie the score at 10. He followed with a three pointer to take a three point lead, 13-10.

Things got a little worrisome for Bulldog fans in the fourth quarter as McCreary Central cut the lead to three early in the period, 40-37.

Evan Dearborn hit a floater in the lane to put the Dawgs up by five, just before tempers flared on the opposing team’s side of the floor.

The Albany Police Department was told to escort a McCreary Central fan out of the gymnasium after comments were made to one of the referees.

After everything calmed down, Clinton County added to its lead on a basket by Harlan at the 4:59 mark, 44-37.

McCreary cut the lead to five on a field goal, but Harlan put the Dawgs back up by seven on a field goal, 46-39.

The Raiders then cut the lead to two points with a three pointer and a field goal, 46-44, with 2:45 on the clock.

A three point play by Harlan would see the Dawgs put a little space in front of McCreary Central at the 2:11 mark, but a three pointer saw the Raiders get back to within two points, 49-47.

During the final minute of the game, Clinton County stepped it up on defense and only allowed McCreary to score one point, while putting up six.
