Store clerks at Express Tobacco Outlet in Livingston were reportedly robbed at gunpoint at closing time Saturday night, February 2.

According to Livingston Police Department (LPD) officials, an armed male subject entered the service station located at 1817 Bradford Hicks Drive, took some petty cash, and then fled from the store in a vehicle parked outside toward Celina Highway.

The clerks in the store were not injured and there were no customers in the store at the time. They were ordered to “get down” when the intruder entered the store and they complied.

Police reportedly responded to the call at approximately 10:15 p.m. and arrived under two minutes from the time of the call.

The case is currently underway by LPD detectives.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in and around the store that night is urged to contact the police department at (931) 823-6496.

LPD Chief Greg Etheredge said he thanks the deputies from the Overton County Sheriff’s Department that responded to the area to assist.

An Overton County couple charged with a number of sex offenses, reportedly in connection with a teenager they met while volunteering at a church, reached a settlement in the criminal court of Putnam County on Monday, January 28.

Assistant District Attorney of the 8th Judicial Circuit Philip A Kazee said that they negotiated a settlement approved by the victim and the victim’s family.

Travis and Traci Puckett pled guilty to one count of attempted aggravated child abuse, a C felony, and will be on probation for four years supervised by the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

According to Haley’s Law, or Tennessee Code Annotated 39-15-402 (a) (3), in order for child abuse to be considered aggravated, the code states, “the act of abuse, neglect or endangerment was especially heinous, atrocious or cruel, or involved the infliction of torture to the victim.”

Kazee said that Travis and Traci Puckett were eligible for a Judicial Diversion and if there are no violations of the terms of their probation, the couple has an opportunity to have the case expunged.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), agents began looking into an allegation of sexual offenses on February 12, 2015 involving a minor victim who at the time was over the age of 13. Sexual contact with the victim allegedly occurred between the dates of March 1, 2007 and April 30, 2007.

Travis Puckett was indicted in Overton County on three charges of statutory rape by an authority figure and three counts of sexual battery by an authority figure on September 26, 2016, but the charges in Overton County were dismissed due to a plea agreement being entered for Clay County charges.

Both Travis and Traci Puckett were indicted by a Clay County Grand Jury on several charges of statutory rape by an authority figure on August 24, 2016. Travis faced nine counts and Traci faced four counts, but these indictments in Clay County were also dismissed upon the plea.

The 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway requested that prosecutors from another judicial district handle the case due to a potential conflict of interest, as Traci Puckett is the daughter of former Overton County Sheriff W.B. Melton.

The 8th Judicial District was selected to handle the case.
