SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

Little Hills accepting
donations

Little Hills of Kentucky Animal Rescue, Inc. is accepting donations for the Rollercoaster Yard Sale September 30 and October 1. All donations are tax deductible and free local pick-up is available. Middle School SBDM meeting dates and times

The Clinton County Middle School Site Based Decision Making Council has set the third Monday of each month at 3:45 p.m. for their regular scheduled meetings.

VA Rep available

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Class of ‘91 reunion

The Class of 1991 will be having its 20 year reunion on Saturday, October 15 from 7-11 p.m. at the Lighthouse Restaurant. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $25 per couple or $13 per individual. The following fall classes will be offered at Eli’s on the Square in Albany beginning next week.

Fall Christmas Ornament Classes: Tuesdays, Sept. 27 and Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. Price: $10 (includes everything needed for the class.)

Pamper Yourself Workshop: Thursday, Sept. 29, 5:30-7 p.m. Price: $8 per person.

Jewelry With a Medera Twist: Thursday, October 6, 5:30-7 p.m. Price: $10 (includes everything needed for one project.)

Foothills Festival
Pumpkin Carving Contest

Pumpkins must be registered at the Foothills Festival building between10:00 -5:00, Friday, October 14th. Judging will take place on Saturday, October 15th winners will be announced at the Lip Sync. 1. Age categories will be: 11-17 and 18 and up. 2. One first, second and third prize winner will be selected in each age category. First place winners in each age division will win $25. Second place will win $15 in each age division. Third place winners in each age division will win $5. 3. Pumpkins may not be larger than 2’x2’x2’. 4. Pumpkins entered may be reclaimed after the contest. Those not reclaimed by Sunday, October 16th will be removed. 5. Each entry must have a title. 6. Entrants must provide candles for lighting.

Senior Carnival
set for October 1

The Senior Carnival will be held Saturday, October 1 from 5-9 p.m. at the CCHS baseball field. Come support the 2012 seniors. There will be fire engine rides, hay rides, face painting, dunking booth, lucky duck, football throw, haunted house, fortune teller, cake walks, balloon pop, junk car beat-down corn hole tournament, good food and the royalty coronation at 8 p.m. Dunk Principal Sheldon Harlan, coaches Darrell Thompson and Todd Messer and school board member Junior Cecil. All proceeds will be used for the Senior Class trip!

Fiscal court special
meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold a special meeting Wednesday, October 5 at 8:30 a.m. in the judge/executive’s office. Among the items on the agenda will be first reading of the Magisterial Reapportionment Plan and Mapping. The meeting is open to the general public.

City council meeting

Albany City Council will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, October 4 at 5 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting is open to the general public.

Community meeting on closure of Alpha Post Office

A postal representative will hold a community meeting to discuss the discontinuance of the Alpha Post Office. The meeting will be held in the fellowship hall of the Old Bethel Bible Church on Thursday, October 6 from 5 to 6 p.m. Eastern Time (4-5 p.m. Central Time.)

Retired teachers to host Middle Cumberland meeting

The Clinton Retired Teachers meeting for October will be held in conjunction with the Middle Cumberland District meeting we are hosting. The meeting will be at Dale Hollow State Park on Friday, October 7 at 9:30 a.m. Executive Director Bob Wagoner will be there and can answer any questions you may have about retirement. Members will be responsible for their own meal if they choose to eat. Please support your local organization by attending. 50-2

4-H Fun Horse Show

A 4-H Fun Horse Show, brought to you by High Hopes 4-H Horse Club, will be held Saturday, October 8 at 12 noon Eastern Time at Wright Hollow Horse Park in Monticello, Kentucky. Cost per class is $3 or package deals are available. Gate admission is $3 per person or $10 per car load. Everyone is welcome to participate.
