Dawgs fall in semi-finals

The Clinton County Bulldogs had nearly half of WKU’s Diddle Arena wearing blue and supporting them Friday night as the Dawgs took on Bowling Green in the semi-finals of the 4th Region Tournament.

The game started out with Bowling Green drawing first blood with a three pointer. It wasn’t long until Jackson Harlan hit a field goal to get the Dawgs to within one point, 3-2.

Bowling Green answered with another field goal, 5-2, but a put back by Seth Stockton put the Dawgs within one point again at the 5:15 mark.

On the next possession, Bowling Green hit a field goal to extend its lead to three points at the 4:40 mark. That was the final time Bowling Green would score in the first period, allowing Clinton County to make an 8-0 run to close out the period with a five point lead, 12-7.

It didn’t take long for Bowling Green to get back in the game, putting together a 6-0 run to take a one point lead, 13-12.

Harlan knocked down a three pointer, his only one for the game, at the 5:19 mark to lead, 15-14.

Bowling Green tied the game from the foul line on one of two from the stripe, but then Stockton hit a three pointer, followed by a jumper for a quick 5-0 run to lead by five, 20-15.

Bowling Green responded with three field goals to take a one point lead with less than a minute remaining in the half.

With 15 seconds remaining, Chase Stines made a field goal to put the Dawgs up by one at the break, 22-21.

The third quarter is where it all fell apart for the Dawgs despite keeping the game close for the first couple of minutes.

Caleb Guffey hit a field goal in the opening minute to put the Dawgs up by three, 24-21, but back-to-back field goals by Bowling Green put the Purples up by one, 25-24, with 6:28 on the clock.

Clinton County’s Stines tied the game with one of two from the foul line, 25-25, but Bowling Green would put together a 10-0 run to lead by 12 with 1:59 on the clock.

Harlan finished the quarter with a field goal and two foul shots to cut the lead to eight points at the end of the third, 37-29.

Bowling Green continued to dominate the game, scoring the first two baskets of the fourth quarter, 41-29.

Harlan broke the run with a field goal at the 6:25 mark, 41-31, but Bowling Green hit four baskets in a row to take a 49-31 lead with 4:17 remaining in the game.

Stockton hit one of two from the line at the 4:04 mark, but Bowling Green hit a field goal two minutes later to move up 51-32.

At the 1:01 mark, Stockton received a pass off a steal and he drove the lane for his final two points of his career, pushing his total above 1,000, 51-34.

Bryson Cross and Lance Madison finished out scoring for the game with field goals from each to give the game its final score, 51-38.

Harlan finished his career second all time, coming up 25 points short of Keifer Dalton’s record of 2,158 points.

The Dawgs finished its season with a 24-8 record.

Newest member of the 1,000 point club …

Seth Stockton couldn’t have finished his career as a Clinton County Bulldog any better than to have surpassed 1,000 career points on his final basket, but as shown above, he did. Stockton drove the lane in the final minute of Friday night’s semi-final region game to score the 1,000 point of his career.

Senior Jackson Harlan put up a three pointer during the second half of Clinton County’s 4th Region semi-final game against Bowling Green. Harlan finished his career with 13 points for the game and number two on the all time scoring list for Clinton County.
