Kathy Hicks is a finalist for Frank R. Hatfield Volunteer of the Year Award

Kathy Hicks, a retired Clinton County music teacher with the Clinton County school system, has advanced to the stae level as a nominee from the Middle Cumberland Retired Teachers Assocition and will be honored at that association’s District Leadership meeting in June.

Nominated for the award by the Clinton County Retired Teachers Association, the Middle Cumberland Association represents Clinton as well as Adair, Casey, McCreary, Wayne, Russell and Pulaski counties.

In making the nomination, the Clinton County association noted that she volunteers extensively with the Clinton County Alumni Band and has done so for the past five years. In addition to performing with the band in concerts, parades and ball games, she also plays percussiona and piano with students she mentors. Her efforts have also included being involved in fundraising events that help the Alumni Band purchase musical instruments for students who would likely not be able to afford them otherwise.
