If you’ve been yearning to take a peek inside the new Clinton County based Southern Kentucky Early College and Career Academy facilities in the Snow Community of Clinton County, your chance is next Tuesday night.

Stesha Flowers, Principal at the Clinton County Area Technology Center, where the Academy is hosted, has announced that an Open House will be held at the facility Tuesday, March 26, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m.

The Open House will be held in conjunction with the Career Academy Induction Ceremony that feature inducting students in grades 8 – 11 grades from Clinton and Cumberland County High Schools, who have selected areas for career academies.

The Academy has six areas of studies the students have chosen from, including Medical Arts, Business and Information Technology, Welding, Industrial Maintenance, Carpentry and Automotive.

In addition to the induction ceremony, students from Clinton and Cumberland Ccounties in grade 12 will be receiving completion certificates during the ceremony.

About 350 high school students are expected to be inducted into the various career academies. The induction ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m.

In announcing the ceremony and Open House plan, Flowers explained the career academies concept to the Clinton County News on Monday of this week.

“Career Academies are small learning communities where students select a career path way to follow,” Flowers said in an informational email to the NEWS. “Academy students are presented with a rigorous academic curriculum and provided access to business networks that will prepare them now to compete in a global economy.”

Tours of the facility will be led by Student Ambassadors and several informational stations will be available, hosted by Campbellsville University, Somerset Community College and staff members from the SOKY ECCA.

Refreshments will be available and in addition to door prizes being awarded, Student “Enterprise” Products will be available for purchase as well. Pre-Nursing students from the Area Technology Center will be providing free blood pressure screenings as well.

The facility, which also houses the Clinton County Board of Education offices, is located at 1273 Ky. Hwy. 90 West, across from the Blue Grass Stockyards.
