The Clinton County Middle School delegation represented Egypt at the Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) at the Marriott Downtown in Louisville on March 3-5, 2019. The Kentucky United Nations Assembly is a three-day experiential learning conference in which students participate directly in simulated international diplomacy.

KUNA offers students the opportunity to experience the richness of cultures from around the world, develop empathy, and hone their critical thinking skills while engaging with a wide variety of perspectives and global issues.

As Ambassadors sharing the culture and diverse interests of UN member nations from around the world, students represent aspects of their country’s culture and traditions with a Global Booth in our Global Village, Country Signs and Flags during our Parade of Nations, cultural attire from their respective nations, and cultural performances on our International Stage.

The primary organ of the UN, and the largest program area at KUNA – Ambassadors research, write, and debate resolutions on international policy issues. Delegations can sponsor one resolution in the UN General Assembly for each country they are representing.

Out of 40 countries represented Clinton County’s representation of Egypt was selected in the Top 5. CCMS students presented a resolution to the assembly that called upon the United Nations to help provide clean water to all people in Egypt. The CCMS group received the KUNA Delegation of Excellence Award, Outstanding Cultural Attire Award, and Outstanding International Stage Performance Award from the World Affairs Council. Congratulations to all members on your hard work!
