The School of Information Science in UK’s College of Communication and Information distributed its first-ever Outstanding ICT student awards to Mariah Thompson, a senior, and Chelsea West, a junior, at the college’s awards ceremony on Thursday, April 11 at 2 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center.

Mariah Thompson, of Albany, Kentucky, is the daughter of Darrell and Tonda Thompson. She is a 2014 graduate of Clinton County High School.

She is a senior majoring in Information Communication Technology and will graduate in May. Her favorite part of the ICT program is her internship opportunity with UK’s Facilities Information Services where she will continue her employment after graduation.

The school’s Outstanding ICT Awards are awarded to a junior and senior studying information communication technology who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and professionalism.

In addition, the student selected demonstrates a passion for information communication technology studies, exemplifies commitment to the profession, and shows a positive attitude towards their peers and instructors.

This year’s recipients surpassed the criteria and demonstrate the outstanding qualities that school faculty look for in its student recipients.
