SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

Volleyball Boosters
selling tickets

Class of ‘91 reunion

The Class of 1991 will be having its 20 year reunion on Saturday, October 15 from 7-11 p.m. at the Lighthouse Restaurant. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $25 per couple or $13 per individual. Eli’s Fall class schedule

The following are the remaining fall classes at Eli’s on the Square.

* Tuesdays, Oct. 11, 18 and 25: Fall Christmas Ornament classes. 5:30-7 p.m. Price: $10 per session (includes everything needed.)

* Thursday, Oct. 6: Jewelry With a Modern Twist. 5:30-7 p.m. Price: $10 (includes everything needed.)

Kentucky Storytelling
Conference

The Kentucky Storytelling Conference will be held Nov. 4 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. and Nov. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Dale Hollow State Resort Park in Burkesville. Cost for the full conference is $50 per individual or $120 for family of three or more. Advance registration by October 24 is $40 per person or $100 per family. KSA members is $30 for pre-registration and $75 per family. Evening concert only admission is $5 per person or $10 per family. Foothills Festival
Pumpkin Carving Contest

Pumpkins must be registered at the Foothills Festival building between10:00 -5:00, Friday, October 14th. Judging will take place on Saturday, October 15th winners will be announced at the Lip Sync. 1. Age categories will be: 11-17 and 18 and up. 2. One first, second and third prize winner will be selected in each age category. First place winners in each age division will win $25. Second place will win $15 in each age division. Third place winners in each age division will win $5. 3. Pumpkins may not be larger than 2’x2’x2’. 4. Pumpkins entered may be reclaimed after the contest. Those not reclaimed by Sunday, October 16th will be removed. 5. Each entry must have a title. 6. Entrants must provide candles for lighting.

Board of Ed to meet

Clinton County Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting Monday, October 10 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office. The meeting is open to the general public.

Fiscal court call meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold a special meeting Wednesday, October 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the judge/executive’s office. Among items on the agenda will be second reading on the Magisterial District Mapping and Reapportionment. The meeting is open to the general public.

IDA regular meeting

The Clinton County Industrial Development Authority will hold its regular meeting Thursday, October 20 at 11 a.m. at the IDA Welcome Center. The meeting is open to the general public. 51-2

Community meeting on closure of Alpha Post Office

A postal representative will hold a community meeting to discuss the discontinuance of the Alpha Post Office. The meeting will be held in the fellowship hall of the Old Bethel Bible Church on Thursday, October 6 from 5 to 6 p.m. Eastern Time (4-5 p.m. Central Time.)

Retired teachers to host Middle Cumberland meeting

The Clinton Retired Teachers meeting for October will be held in conjunction with the Middle Cumberland District meeting we are hosting. The meeting will be at Dale Hollow State Park on Friday, October 7 at 9:30 a.m. Executive Director Bob Wagoner will be there and can answer any questions you may have about retirement. Members will be responsible for their own meal if they choose to eat. Please support your local organization by attending. 50-2

4-H Fun Horse Show

A 4-H Fun Horse Show, brought to you by High Hopes 4-H Horse Club, will be held Saturday, October 8 at 12 noon Eastern Time at Wright Hollow Horse Park in Monticello, Kentucky. Cost per class is $3 or package deals are available. Gate admission is $3 per person or $10 per car load. Everyone is welcome to participate. Foothills Baby Show

The Foothills Festival Baby Show will be Saturday, October 8 at the Clinton County High School gymnasium. Applications may be picked up at the Klassic Shop or City Florist and must be returned by Friday, October 7 at 4 p.m. If not, registration on pageant day will be $15. Registration on Saturday will be 9-10 a.m. It will be Sunday wear, residents only. The pageant begins at 10 a.m. For more information contact Rose Hunter at 306-2466.

Diabetes graduate class

A Living with Diabetes graduate class entitled Advanced Carb Counting will be held Monday, October 10 from 1-2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. Classes are free. Preregister by calling 606-678-4761, ext. 1166.

Foothills Festival Window
Display contest

The Foothills Festival Window Display judging will be Thursday night, October 13. All merchants are encouraged to decorate their windows. The theme for the Festival is “Fall in the Foothills.” There will be a first prize of $25; second prize of $15; and third prize of $10. Trophies will also be awarded. Foothills Festival 5K Run

The Foothills Festival 5K Run will be Saturday, October 15, starting at 8 a.m. at Mountain View Park. Registration will be from 7-7:45 a.m. To be eligible for the cash drawing you must register by noon on Friday, October 14. Applications may be printed from the web page at www.foothillsfestival.com or picked up at the Albany-Clinton County Wellness Center. Walkers are welcome, but must go the full route of three and one tenth miles to get name and time on the back of the shirts for the next year. For further information call Fran Hay at 306-4332. 51-2

Foothills Festival
Beauty
Pageant

The 2011 Foothills Festival Beauty Pageant will be held Thursday, October 13 at 6 p.m. at Clinton County High School. Age groups will include: Prince and Princess, 5-7; Little Miss, 5-7; Junior Miss, 8-11; Teen Miss, 12-14; and Miss, 15-21. The pageant will be open to all counties and states. The deadline for applications will be Friday, October 7. Please don’t wait to register on the night of the pageant. The Miss contestants will need to turn in a picture with their application. It is very important it gets turned in by the deadline for our slide show. The Miss Foothills winner will go on to the State Festival Pageant in November. Applications can be picked up at the Klassic Shop or online at www.foothillsfestival.com.
