An elderly Cumberland County couple is dead and another Burkesville man is facing charges following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred over the Memorial Day weekend.

According to reports, Kentucky State Police Post 15 Sergeant Adam Likins is investigating the double-fatality crash that occurred around 11:08 p.m. Saturday night, May 25, six miles east of Burkesville on KY 90 in Cumberland County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Christian Parrish, 28, of Burkesville, was operating a 2000 Ford eastbound on KY 90 when he crossed into the oncoming westbound lane, striking a 2012 Nissan operated by Barbara Ann Arms, 67, also of Burkesville, head-on.

Mrs. Arms, along with a passenger, her husband, 74-year-old Bobby Gene Arms, were both pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. Parrish was transported to Cumberland County Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

Parrish was arrested and charged with DUI-first and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail in Columbia.

Sgt. Likins, who is continuing the investigation, was assisted at the scene by the Cumberland County Fire Department, EMS and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
