Fall sports winding down, for the most part

Just as we have “officially” entered the fall season on the calendar, those sports in the high school lineup that are listed as fall sports, are actually, for the most part, winding down.

Golf ended this week with the conclusion on Tuesday and Wednesday of the KHSAA State Tournaments in Bowling Green.

Volleyball sees its regular season come to an end this week and the post-season get underway next week as that season begins coming to a close, and soccer also sees its regular season come to a close this week. Likewise, the post season play for soccer begins with regional play next week.

Football has a little longer run in front of us, with the Bulldogs still facing three more opponents in this 2011 campaign before the regular season ends on the last weekend in October and moves into post-season play.

Cross Country will be the longest running fall sport, truly reaching into the depths of fall before coming to an end in mid-November.

So, things are beginning to wind down somewhat, and of course what lies ahead will be colder weather, rain and snow and for roundball fans – the start of the run to March.

Yep, we live in Kentucky!

Football Dawgs headed across the river

The Bulldogs will be headed north across the Ohio River this weekend for a game at Middletown, Ohio that has a 5:00 p.m. kickoff. Clinton County then takes a break in the schedule, with an idle weekend during the Foothills Festival, before ending the season with back to back home games against Green County on October 21, and a season ending contest against Eminence on October 28.
