The Clinton County Bulldogs took on the favorite to win the 2A division of high school football Friday night that resulted in a 56-0 loss.
Head Coach Jamie Miller said Glasgow was as good a team as he has seen in high school.
“They are as good as advertised,” Miller said. “They are very talented. I think they have a couple of guys who are committed to Louisville and I’d say two or three more who will probably go somewhere and play. They were strong, physical, fast … everything you want your football team to be.”
Even though Glasgow had a real chance to pad their stats, Miller said their coach and team was very classy.
“Their coach was a real classy guy and the players were classy,” Miller said. “Even without the injuries we’ve had this year, that’s not a game we can compete in. They will win the district and make a deep run in the playoffs. They are projected to win the state and they very well may. Probably one of the best teams I’ve seen since I’ve been coaching in Kentucky.”
Clinton County’s game against Glasgow started out with a 14-0 lead against the Bulldogs in the first quarter. During the second quarter, Glasgow scored 35 points for a 49-0 halftime score.
Glasgow only scored one touchdown in the second half against the Bulldogs to finalize the score at 56-0.
Clinton County moves to 0-7 on the year with one more away game before the next home game on October 21 against Green County. The Bulldogs will have the week off from games during Foothills Festival weekend, October 14.
This Saturday, the Bulldogs will take a four-hour bus ride to play Middletown Christian out of Ohio.
Miller said his team will leave around 8 a.m. Saturday morning and arrive two to three hours prior to kick off.
“I think we should match up well with them. They are a hair better than Trimble County and we should have beat them by two or three touchdowns,” Miller said. “We have to take care of the football and play the way we are capable of playing and get some of these guys who are banged up, back as soon as possible and maybe we will be able to come out with a win.”
Kick off for Saturday’s game will be at 5 p.m.
