On Saturday, June 15 at approximately 7 p.m., Barren-Metcalfe EMS were dispatched to a barn located on Will Davis Road in the Cork community of Metcalfe County in reference to an unconscious female. Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Burton was also dispatched to the scene.

Through investigation, Deputy Burton was able to learn that Ashley Miller and Michael Miller had been swimming in the Little Barren River with three juveniles in their care.

Both Ashley and Michael became intoxicated and began arguing while at the river. Michael then left the scene in his automobile. Ashley then went to a nearby barn with the juveniles and later passed out due to alcohol consumption.

After several unsuccessful attempts to revive Ashley, one of the juveniles walked to a nearby residence and summoned help. EMS arrived and treated Ashley for alcohol consumption. Upon investigation of the events, Ashley was placed under arrest and transported to the Barren County Jail.

Metcalfe County Deputy Sheriff Jarrod Steele was able to locate Michael Miller a short distance from the area on Mell Ridge Road.

Michael Miller was also placed under arrest and transported to the Barren County Jail.

Deputies Burton and Steele were assisted by Barren-Metcalfe EMS and the Kentucky Department of Permanency and Protection.

Both parties were lodged on the following charges: Ashley N. Miller–wanton endangerment second degree (three counts) and Michael T. Miller–wanton endangerment second degree (three counts), and operating a motor vehicle under the influence first offense.
