The Site Based Decision Making Council at Cumberland County High School has named Josh Henderson as the new principal.
Henderson will take over the lead position from Jason Dodson, who accepted the position of director of pupil personnel, formerly filled by Dr. Tim Parson.
Parson is now serving as superintendent of Clinton County Schools. Heather Muse will serve as the director of special education, a role also vacated by Parson.
A 2003 graduate of Caverna High School, Henderson has been in education for 12 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Western Kentucky University. He completed a master’s degree in 2013 and Rank I in 2016 at the University of the Cumberlands.
“Education is a passion of mine,” Henderson said. “I look forward to continuing my career in the Cumberland County School System.”
Henderson most recently held the position of head boys’ basketball coach at Hart County High School, where he taught elementary school. He served as the college and career counselor and head boys’ basketball coach at Garrard County High School from 2014 to 2016.
He was a teacher and head basketball coach in Meade County in 2013-14, and taught at LaRue County High School and was assistance boys’ basketball and cross country coach from 2007 to 2013.
“I am excited to start leading Cumberland County High to new heights and boundaries,” Henderson said.
“I feel the sky’s the limit at CCHS and groundwork has already been laid to move the school academically to new horizons. I am ecstatic to be part of the Cumberland County community and want to build positive relationships with all stakeholders.”
Henderson and his wife, Samantha, have one three-year-old son.
