The Clinton County Boys’ Soccer program is on the verge of losing the sport all together. According to Athletic Director Nick Irwin, participation is at an all time low for the program and if numbers don’t rise by the end of the week, it is likely the school will lose the program.
“Soccer is a great sport for exercise, health and builds character through team work,” Irwin said in a recent post to Facebook. “Please bring your kids out, pass this news along to as many people you can, and let’s do something that is proven to help our children and build a better community for our future generations.”
Head Coach Matthew Smith can be contacted at 606-688-2457 for anyone interested in playing. Practice is held at the CCMS soccer field from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights.
“We are currently in need of kids from eighth to 12th grades to participate in boys soccer,” Irwin said. “We are at a point where if participation don’t pick up, we could lose our sport.”
