VA Rep available

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Veterans can schedule an appointment by phoning 270-651-9578 or toll free at 800-850-1392.

SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

Putting on the Ritz
Pageant

A “Putting on the Ritz” beauty pageant will be held Saturday, November 12 at the Clinton County Courthouse for ages 0 and up. Registration will be at 12 noon with the pageant at 1 p.m. For more information contact Heather Marlin at 270-320-8434 or online at www.puttingontheritzpageants.com. 52-2

Pumpkin Walk,

Family Movie night

A Pumpkin Walk will be held Thursday, October 20 from 6-7 p.m. at the Early Childhood Center. There will be a Family Fun Walk with free candy and door prizes. Costumes must be kid friendly. Also at 7 p.m. there will be Family Movie Night featuring “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” presented in the Early Childhood Center auditorium. Westlake 5K Run/Walk

The Westlake Relay for Life will be having a “Run for Your Life!!” 5K run/walk and kids half-mile fun run, Saturday, Oct. 29 at 8 a.m. at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia. The 5K run/walk registration will begin at 7 a.m. Pre-registration will be until Oct. 21 and those pre-registering are guaranteed a “Run For Your Life” t-shirt. The cost is $15 pre-registered and $20 at day of event. Awards will be given for overall male and female along with top two in each age division. Age divisions range from 13 up to 60 and over. The kids fun run registration is $5 and will begin at 9 a.m. and will run immediately after the 5K awards. All kids will receive a medal and goody bag with awards being given to the overall male and female and top in each age division. Age divisions are 6 up to 13 years. Westlake Relay for Life

The Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia’s Relay for Life team will be having their first annual Westlake Health Fair Relay for Life beauty pageant Saturday, Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Age categories will be birth to 15 years (5-7 year-olds must compete as couple). Pre-register until Oct. 19 for 0-7, $10 and 8-15 and couples is $15. You can register the day of the event for an additional $5 charge. Awards will be given for winner, first and second-runners up. Class of 2011 reunion

Project Graduation

Haunted Mill III

You are invited to the annual Clinton County Softball Team’s Haunted House! It will be open Friday and Saturday, October 14, 15, 21 and 22 from 6-10 p.m. Admission is $5 for everyone. Kentucky Storytelling
Conference

The Kentucky Storytelling Conference will be held Nov. 4 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. and Nov. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Dale Hollow State Resort Park in Burkesville. Cost for the full conference is $50 per individual or $120 for family of three or more. Advance registration by October 24 is $40 per person or $100 per family. Dementia, Alzheimer’s

support group meeting

The Dementia/Alzheimer’s support group will be meeting Tuesday, October 18 at the Community Center in Albany, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to learn more about the aging process, particularly as it relates to dementia and Alzheimer’s. This is an opportunity to be educated and to be engaged with others who are going through real life experiences and to learn from one another.
