Lela “Cue” Story Mathews, 79, Tennessee Rd., Albany, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Clinton County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Reid and Lela Mullinix Story and was married to the late Jack Flowers of Albany. She was a member of Albany First Baptist Church, Fidelis Ladies Club and Beech Bottom Eastern Star and worked as a machine operator for many years at Sutton Shirt Corporation in Byrdstown, Tennessee.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Mathews, Albany; three sons, Jackie (Phyllis) Flowers, Albany; Jerry (Perlita) Flowers, Tampa, FL; and Jeff Flowers; two step-sons, Roger Mathews, Port St. Lucie, FL; Richard Matthews, Waxhaw, N.C.; two sisters, Joanne Clark and Grace Asberry, both of Byrdstown, TN; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Madison, Brad, Joshua, Jonathan and Tripp Flowers, Beverly Knobloch, Ashley Thompson and Gretchen Marlow; one step-grandchild, Andrew Mathews; five great-grandchildren, Allycia and Austin Flowers; Ella and Caleb Marlow and Zachary Knobloch and one step-great-grandchild, Jarred Staelnaker.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Brown, Bro. Ron Jones and Bro. Melvin Daniel officiating. Final resting place in Irwin Cemetery. Arrangements made through Cambpell-New Funeral Home of Albany.
