The Clinton County School District Outhouse entry won their heat race over People’s Bank Saturday in the return of the Great Outhouse Race to the Foothills Festival. Sponsored by the Albany/Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, the event was a crowd pleaser with seven entries. The School District entry earned a Most Creative award.
Lisa Beard’s State Farm Insurance Great Outhouse Race entry was “on fire” as the team pushed the entry up the hill toward the courthouse square finish line. With the best time in the four heats, the Lisa Beard team won the event and will keep the championship trophy for the year, with hopes of defending their title in 2020. Sponsored by the Albany – Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, the Great Outhouse Race made a return to the Foothills schedule after being absent for several years.
Knowing the importance of getting good and loose before competing in any event, Clinton County High School Athletic Director Nick Irwin was caught doing some stretching before helping to push the Clinton School District’s entry in the Great Outhouse Race Saturday afternoon.
They weren’t the fastest at the Great Outhouse Race contest, but the Clinton County Extension Office team did earn a Best Costume award Saturday. The Great Outhouse Race, sponsored by the Albany – Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, proved to be a crowd pleasing event with fans cheering the participants on from the course sidelines.
