The Clinton County News traveled across the world with John and Betsy Strawser and Tom and Betsy Ahlrichs, first stopping in London, England to take in the Cincinnati Bengals game, then heading on to Palma, Spain to watch some basketball action and inpaticular Matt Stainbrook, a former Xavier star who now plays professionally for Iberojet Palma. Just prior to their arrival, Stainbrook suffered a minor knee injury and was out of the lineup for two weeks.

The Strawsers own a lakeside cabin at Dale Hollow Lake and they spend a lot of time there, buying supplies in Albany and Clinton County. Tom and Jane Ahlrichs (Betsy’s sister) also spend considerable time at Dale Hollow Lake. Their daughter, Anna, is Stainbrook’s fiance, and they have also spent a lot of time at Dale Hollow Lake and in and around Albany.

In 2015, after playing in his last NCAA tournament game for Xavier, Stainbrook was hosted by the Clinton County News for an appearance before the varsity Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs at Clinton County High School, where he spoke about his experiences as a Division I basketball player and his hopes of playing professional basketball.
