And we’re off with Roundball season 2019-20
Hold on tight roundball fans because the next few weeks are going to be a race.
The 2019-2020 high school basketball season got off to a great start for Bulldog fans Monday night, with Clinton County hitting the road and traveling an hour or so north to take on, and defeat, the Casey County (5th Region) Rebels in Liberty.
Picking up the double-digit win (56-46) over the Rebels Monday night wasn’t the prettiest victory for the Dawgs that I’ve ever seen, but a win is a win and anytime you can mark down a “W” to get the season started, it’s a keeper.
Coach Todd Messer reiterated that same feeling Monday night during a telephone conversation we had as we both headed back to Clinton County – “It’s a win, it wasn’t pretty, but I told my boys we weren’t going to apologize for winning at all – I’ll take it.”
Despite Monday night’s showing of what areas the Dawgs might need to concentrate on in future practices, Messer said he was giving the team off as far as practice goes Tuesday night – not to heal from Monday night’s physical battle with the Rebels, but to condition for what lies ahead.
Through December, the Dawgs are looking at six more regular season games, then two holiday tournaments that guarantee at least eight more games, possibly more – so at least 14 more games in a three week span.
Like I said – hold on tight, roundball fans – this is what we’ve been yearning for since about April.
Lady Dawgs hit the floor Friday
Come on out to the Lindle Castle Gymnasium Friday night for the first Clinton County double-header setting, and the encore game for our Lady Dawgs, when we play host to 4th Region opponent Franklin-Simpson.
The Lady Wildcats and Wildcats will both be coming off of games that were slated to be played Tuesday night in Tompkinsville against Monroe County.
Get behind our Lady Dawgs and Bulldogs early this season – these young athletes need to know their community is behind them.
In the meantime-I’m in the gym until March.
