The Clinton County Lady Bulldogs picked up two losses last week, one at the hands of a district opponent in overtime and another against neighboring Pickett County.

Saturday night of last week the Lady Dawgs traveled the short bus ride to neighboring Pickett County, Tennessee to take on the Lady Bobcats.
Pickett County started off the game on an 18-1 run with Aysha Sutton hitting one of two from the line at the 6:15 mark.
Clinton County’s next points came at the 2:55 mark when Sara Turner hit a three pointer to cut the lead to 14, 18-4.
Landree Moons finished the quarter in scoring for the Lady Dawgs with two field goals and two free throws for a score of 24-10 in favor of the Lady Bobcats.
The second quarter didn’t go very well either for the Lady Dawgs, as Clinton County only posted one point for the entire eight minute period. At the half, Pickett County led, 30-11.
Clinton County did score a little more in the third quarter by putting up nine points, but Pickett County did as well.
By the end of the third quarter, Pickett County led, 65-20.
The final period saw Clinton County only post one point for the period where Pickett County put up eight points.
Clinton County fell to the Lady Bobcats by a final of, 73-21.

Overtime
The Lady Dawgs traveled to Cumberland County for the second of two regular season district games last Friday night.
Clinton County started off the game by missing its first attempt and falling behind 4-0 and finally 6-1 by midway through the first quarter.
Braylee Mann hit a three pointer to cut the lead to two points, 6-4, but a basket by the Lady Panthers put Cumberland County up by four, 8-4. Moons finished the quarter with a free throw to trail 8-5 at the end of one.
The second quarter didn’t start off good for the Lady Dawgs as Cumberland County scored a quick basket to push the lead to five points, 10-5, but a three pointer by Ashton Daniels put the lead at two points, 10-8.
Cumberland County then put together a 6-0 run to lead by eight points, 16-8, before Landree Moons scored back-to-back field goals to cut the lead to four points, 16-12.
The Lady Panthers then went on another 6-0 to finish the quarter with a double digit lead 22-12.
Cumberland County added to its lead in the beginning of the third quarter with a three pointer, 25-12.
Then just like flipping a switch, here came the Lady Dawgs.
With multiple baskets by Moons, Abbi Young, and Ashton Daniels, Clinton County went on a 14-1 run to tie the score at 26 with 2:55 on the clock and get back in the game.
Cumberland County took the lead on a field goal, 28-26, and Young finished the quarter hitting one of two from the line to trail by one, 28-27.
Moons started the fourth quarter from the foul line and tied the score on one of two from the line.
At the 6:00 mark, Cumberland County hit a field goal, but Daniels hit two of two from the foul line to tie the score at 30.
For the remainder of the quarter the score would go back and forth with both teams scoring from the foul line. Only two field goals were made past the 6:00 mark in the fourth quarter, one by each team.
With 1:09 remaining, Clinton County trailed by one point and Moons was at the line for two shots. She hit one of two to trail by one, 36-35.
As the clock wound down to 23 seconds, Moons went back to the line and hit both foul shots to take a one point lead, 37-36.
With seconds winding down and Clinton County up by two, 38-36, off of another free throw made, Cumberland County took the last shot with 11 seconds remaining and hit a field goal to send the game into overtime tied at 38.
Overtime didn’t fare so well for the Lady Dawgs, despite the hard effort to get back into the game after being down by 13 points in the second half.
Young did hit a three pointer early to take a three point lead, but a field goal cut that lead to one with 3:15 on the clock.
Young then went to the line and hit one of two to push the lead to two points, but a three pointer by Cumberland County put the Lady Panthers up by one, 43-42.
Braylee Mann tied the score at 43 from the foul line on one of two, but Cumberland County then went on a 9-1 run to finish the game and hand the Lady Dawgs a seven point loss, 51-44, in overtime.

The Clinton County Lady Bulldogs won its first game in the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic against Henry County on Thursday of last week, but failed to pick up another win for the rest of the tournament, moving its record to 2-11 on the year before traveling to Cumberland County on Friday, January 3, 2020.

South Oldham 69
Clinton County took on the South Oldham Lady Dragons during the second round of the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic last week in a game that saw Clinton County struggle from both ends of the floor.
During the first quarter, South Oldham jumped out to a early lead, but was tied at four when Ashton Daniels hit a three pointer at the 6:50 mark.
Clinton County only scored three more points in the period as South Oldham put up 22 more for a first quarter lead, 26-7.
The Lady Bulldogs’ didn’t score a field goal from the 6:12 mark in the first quarter until Daniels hit another three pointer at the 3:45 mark in the second quarter.
By that time South Oldham had stacked up a 34 point lead, 37-13.
South Oldham added another 10 points to its score by halftime whereas Clinton County only put up three points on a three pointer by Abbi Young.
Clinton County went into the locker room at the half down 47-16.
During the third quarter, Clinton County scored one less than South Oldham in the eight minute period, 12-11, and finished the quarter trailing by 32 points, 59-27.
The fourth quarter went much the same for the Lady Dawgs as Clinton County couldn’t get much rolling on offense.
The final period saw Clinton County post 11 points to South Oldham’s 10 for a final score of 69-38.

The Clinton County Lady Dawgs took on neighboring Wayne County in the third game of the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic on Saturday morning, December 28, 2019.
What started out as a close game for the Lady Dawgs in the first quarter after trailing 9-2 in the first three minutes, quickly saw Clinton County tie the score and take the lead on baskets by Aysha Sutton and Young, 14-11.
Makenzie Cope added to Clinton County’s lead with a field goal, 16-11, but Wayne County hit a field goal to close out the period to cut the lead to three points, 16-13.
Clinton County’s Young picked up where the Dawgs left off in the first quarter with a field goal at the 6:20 mark, 18-13.
Wayne County fought back and cut the lead to one point, but a field goal by Sutton put the Lady Dawgs up by three, 20-17, with 5:05 remaining in the half.
Moons went to the line at the 4:38 mark and hit two of two to push the Lady Dawgs’ lead to three after Wayne County had cut the lead to one again.
At the 4:20 mark, Wayne County went on a 7-0 run to take a four point lead over Clinton County 26-22.
The Lady Dawgs’ hustle paid off during the first half as Clinton County was only down by four at the half, 30-26.
The second half was a completely different story as Wayne County came out swinging, outscoring Clinton County 24-7 in the third period for a 21 point lead to start the fourth, 54-33.
The final quarter went much the same way as Clinton County’s effort seemed to be lost. The Lady Dawgs couldn’t control the offense enough to chip away at the Wayne County lead.
During the quarter, Wayne County outscored the Lady Dawgs 16-7 for a final score of 70-40.

McCreary Central 71
The Lady Dawgs played its final game of the holiday season against McCreary Central in the fourth game of the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic on Saturday afternoon, December 28, 2019.
The Lady Dawgs started out slow and never gained any speed throughout the game as McCreary Central grabbed a 23-8 lead in the first quarter.
Both teams went point for point during the second quarter with each team putting up 14 points.
At the half, Clinton County trailed, 37-22.
The Lady Dawgs didn’t fare much better in the second half, getting outscored 16-9 in the third quarter, 53-31.
Clinton County did outscore McCreary Central in the final period, 22-19, but the damage had already been done in the previous three quarters.
The Lady Dawgs fell by a final score 71-53.
