How quick was that?
On Monday night in The Castle, we watched the crowning of our annual basketball Sweetheart Princess and Queen.
On Thursday night of this week, we will put on our annual “good-bye” celebration to the seniors who have been a part of the teams, squads, band and other organizations this season with our Senior Night festivities honoring both the seniors and their parents.
Then on Friday night, it’s time for our annual fundraising event to help the varsity basketball program, the Basketball Booster Club / WANY Radio Auction.
Get in on the fun Friday night either by listening over the airwaves (100.9) and calling in (387-5569) to bid and buy, or just come on out to the high school cafeteria and get in on the fun live and in person.
So, with Thursday night’s games against Barren County, then the WANY Radio Auction, we put a cap on the 2019-20 regular season and move on to the second part of the season – the post season tournament run.
On Monday night, both the Lady Bulldogs and the Bulldogs will get on the bus to make the short trip across Wolf Creek Dam and into the Laker gym for first round play in the 16th District Tournament.
Our Lady Dawgs will take on host Russell County with a 6:00 p.m. tip, while the Bulldogs are set to face Metcalfe County in the nightcap matchup.
Three big events here – get off the couch and get behind these young Clinton County players – they deserve to know we support them.
Wow – seems like just a few weeks ago I was preparing you readers for the upcoming season and inviting you out to Meet the Bulldogs.
Congrats Amber on a strange, but first D-I win
A separate article in this week’s SPORTS gives details about former Lady Bulldog standout Amber Guffey earning her first win as a head coach. The chain of events began in Saturday’s Murray Racers win over Morehead, after Racer Head Coach Rechelle Turner was ejected, thrusting Guffey into the role of head coach for the remainder of the game.
I watched the post-game press conference on YouTube Monday, and I have to say, I heard Amber say more during those two minutes than I did the entire time she was playing for Clinton County.
Congrats Amber, and I’m sure more head coach wins are in store sometime down the road.
Congrats Coach Messer on another milestone
Knowing Coach Todd Messer as I do, I would bet you would never learn from him any of his own accomplishments as he always points to his players when accolades are due.
That’s where it comes to be part my job to keep the pubic informed, and with the victory against Monroe County on Friday night, Messer reached his seventh 20 winning game season coaching at Clinton County.
After Monday night’s hard fought win over the Spartans of South Warren, the Bulldogs boast a 21-6 record going into Thursday night’s regular season finale against Barren County.
Currently in his 14th season as the Bulldog head coach, Messer’s seven seasons with 20 or more wins tops any mark of former Clinton County head coaches.
Congrats Todd!
In the meantime – I’m in the gym until March.
