Adelle Thompson, 63, of Temple Hill and formerly of Monroe County, died after a one-vehicle accident on Monday, October 24.

According to a press release from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Thompson was a passenger in a 2002 Hyundai Electra being driven north on Tompkinsville Road in the Freedom Community by her granddaughter, Kristin Key, 16, also of Temple Hill. Deputy Chris Wyatt noted that Key lost control of the car in a curve and went off the right shoulder of the roadway and over an embankment, overturning several times.

Thompson was taken by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where she died from her injuries. Key refused medical transport. Both were belted at the time of the accident, Wyatt noted.
