The Clinton County Recreation Park Board held its regular meeting outdoors at the park last Thursday evening, July 30.
With the park being closed to all organized sports activity and the only general public use being primarily the walking track area, no official votes pertaining to necessary business items were taken during the half hour meeting.
The board did acknowledge receiving the monthly treasurer’s report, which showed an ending fund balance of just over $3,300, with this month’s bills still pending. However, board treasurer Gina Poore did say the county and school board quarterly allotments would be coming shortly and would help the park financially.
Also discussed was the City of Albany’s allotment, with park board records showing the city is still behind a few quarterly payments, possibly owing as much as $15,000 by the time its next quarterly budgeted allotment comes due.
Discussions have remained ongoing with the city about the back payments apparently budgeted for the park annually.
Poore also noted the latest water bill received for the park was just under $500 and noted she would check with the water department and see if they could determine if there was some type of water leak at the park.
With the U.S. 127 Yard Sale proceeding this week, the booth space rentals were briefly discussed.
It was noted that up through late last week, between 20 to 25 vendors–primarily repeat vendors–have reserved spaces to set up sales booths.
The sale officially runs Thursday through Sunday, August 6-9, but some vendors had already began selling even prior to this week’s press deadline.
On a final note, it was mentioned that there would likely be no sports activity, possibly even none in the fall, taking place at the park in 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus situation. However, should any event be planned with health department guidelines being met, it would be announced to the public.
The next regular meeting of the Clinton County Rec/Park Board is slated for August 27, at 6 p.m. at the park.
